General Skilled Migration
SKILLED OCCUPATION LIST
In order to apply for General Skilled Migration, you must nominate an occupation on the skilled occupations list. Our list is sorted by occupational category and has links to more detailed information on each occupation.
Skilled Occupation List
If you intend to apply under General Skilled Migration you must have a nominated occupation which is on the SOL at the time you apply.
Migration Occupations in Demand List (MODL)
If you nominate an occupation on the MODL, you will receive additional points in the skilled migration points test. In addition, your occupation should be processed on a priority basis.
SYDNEY SKILLED SHORTAGE LIST
If you are applying for a Skilled Australian Sponsored visa, and your sponsor is living in the Sydney/Newcastle/Wollongong area, then your nominated occupation and work expeirence must be in an occupation within the SSASSL. This is a much more restricted list than the Skilled Occupations List.

OCCUPATIONS CURRENTLY IN HIGH DEMAND
Australian employers are unable to fill job vacancies in numerous occupations due to a shortage of skilled workers. Recent reports show that there are skill shortages in many professional occupations, majority of trades, and some specialised skills in Information and Communication Technology. Australian Government is actively addressing these shortages through the Skilled Migration Program, with 200,000 work rights visas being made available between 2003-2006.
